While his Army and Air Force
counterparts are verifying the
usability of roads, tunnels and
bridges and getting airports
functional, the admiral has one
other set of concerns besides his
command, the fleet of 300
merchant ships transiting the
Malacca Straits, and Singapore's
port facilities. There are outlying
islands.  Data is sparse, but we
believe the primary concern
would be the tourist facilities
like amusement parks on
Sentosa as well as beaches. It is
likely almost everyone on an
island or travelling to an island
by boat would be killed by the
tsunami. Most people
swimming, fishing or boating
near or on shore would have
little or no warning.
Even if transport ships, ferries and helicopters can be found to move everyone
off Sentosa on a few hours' notice it is unclear where everyone should then go.
