"It is the business of the
future to be dangerous" -
Alfred North Whitehead
(15 Feb 1861 - 30 Dec 1947) English mathematician and philosopher. His younger son,
Second Lieutenant Eric Alfred Whitehead, was killed while flying patrol for the Royal Air
Corps in France in 1918.
Ten years ago we proposed a maglev (a
very high-speed magnetically levitated
train) connecting Casablanca to Cairo
and continuing on to Mecca. This
network could allow the rapid
movement of rail freight as well as free
transport for pilgrims. Libya was to be a
key participant in the main line (red), as
well as several possible secondary links
to West and Central Africa.
